Union Square Eye Care

This is a very high class optometrist that accepts most forms of insurance for appointments, but not for making glasses. I went here and received the most thorough eye check up I have ever gotten here. The optometrist was very sweet, and made me feel very comfortable. This is a pretty swanky optometrist. If you're in New York and looking for a high class optometrist then look no further! Plus the location is very close to Union Square so that makes it easy to get to. But it is on the second level, and you have to take the stairs I believe, but there I'd an elevator that you might be able to use if you're in a wheelchair. Also it can be hard to miss being on the second floor, and the first floor doesn't look like an optometrist. Overall I think this is one of the best eye doctors I've ever seen. And I've been wearing glasses or contacts since I was 9 years old. Seeing that I'm 40 now that's saying something! Lol

Love this office! The staff are clean, kind and professional. Whenever I come (and I am there pretty early in the AM), there is a staff member sanitizing the staff work and patient areas ... so very commendable!! It is comforting and reassuring to see such internal care. The doctors are EXCELLENT, caring and knowledgeable. I feel safe here. I LOVE the facility, the practice and all the supportive staff within. Kudos to a practice well done and organized!!

You know how women be getting BBLs to improve their confidence, appearance etc? Strabismus surgery is the same outcome with Dr Wisnicki! After going to a few doctors before him and being told nothing can’t be don’t for my eye I decided to make the trip from Brooklyn to his office. He understood completely my issue and how I felt because when you have an eye going outwards your confidence is zero and you just think all the time if people are judging you for it. He is very kind understanding caring and explains everything from start to finish. I am so lucky and blessed to have found him! I got surgery and my eye is finally corrected. I’m so excited to start doing new things that my previous eye condition stopped me from doing. I am eternally grateful for Dr. Wisnicki and his staff. Thank you so much!!! This office is excellent in almost all regards. I saw Kelly Armstrong, OD for an updated prescription of my rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses, which are much more complicated to fit than soft contacts. (For that reason, it’s much harder to find optometrists who fit for RGPs.) Over the course of 3 months, she worked with me tirelessly to try to find the best fit and function for my vision (high myopia with astigmatism, along with newer onset presbyopia) and patiently tweaked and adjusted the variables on each set of lenses to try to improve my function and comfort for the next. We tried multifocal, monovision, as well as standard binocular vision lens settings and she was fastidious and thorough each time, listening carefully to how I was seeing and making the adjustments she felt necessary to improve the next pair. (This was a stark contrast to my experience with a Pearle Vision a year ago, where the customer service was average at best (I’m being very generous) and the final product poor and ultimately proved unusable.) The office is clean, the reception staff courteous and helpful, their prices fair, their techs efficient and professional, and the customer service is great. I withhold one star only because I frequently had to wait for frustratingly long times, beyond a more reasonable 10-20 minute window. Going every 1-2 weeks for 3 months until a good prescription was finally settled upon, my average wait time was probably 20-30 minutes, but could be as short as 10 and as long as 90. This very wide window made it difficult to schedule appointments when I myself needed to get back to work. But beyond that, I have only the best things to say about Union Square Eye Care and found Dr. Kelly Armstrong, in particular, to be excellent. Highly recommend this office, especially for RGP wearers.

I will say a big thank you to Dr. H Jay Wisnicki, MD and team for my Strabismus surgery to be a success.. love how my eyes look now… My left was damaged in an accident when I was15 years ago and was like lazy eyes. I am 42 now and I decided to do the surgery to align it to my right eye. I sorry I didn’t do a few years earlier.. Don’t be afraid of doing your eye surgery. Dr. Wisnicki is a great doctor and he and get your eyes fixed in a timely manner.. cheers DR.!

Union Square Eye Care is 5/5 stars all around. The entire staff is professional and they prioritize patients feeling taken care of. I had strabismus surgery with Dr. Wisnicki and he fixed my vision perfectly. He was informative, personable, precise with the measurements, and ensured everything from pre-op to post-op went smoothly. Best surgery experience I could have asked for. Highly recommend Dr. Wisnicki and his staff.

Got an eye exam with them and updated contact prescription. They said the contacts should arrive within two weeks and they would call then to schedule a fitting. They give me a call two weeks later and say the next appointment is over two weeks from now. Don’t you think a properly run business would think ahead and get something on the book ahead of time? Even if they were unsure exactly when the contacts would come in, it seems like it would be good service to schedule something out in order to not have to wait a full month to get contacts. Just a thought.
